3 Rom-Coms (that you’ve probably never heard of) to Watch this Week

Sometimes everyone just needs a good chick flick to get them through the day/night. Even guys. If I had to hazard a guess at how often guys lie about “not liking rom-coms,” I would say it’s close to 90%. Girls like them, guys like them, they make you feel good. Here’s a few that maybe you haven’t seen yet.

Forever My Girl (Prime, Hulu)

If your vice is a good Nicholas Sparks movie, this is the one for you. I was surprised to find out after watching that this wasn’t based off of a Sparks book, as it feels just like one. Is it as good as The Notebook or A Walk to Remember? Of course not. In fact, it’s nowhere even close. But if you want to watch a pretty standard love story, this is probably the movie for you tonight.

Mr. Right (Netflix)

Okay. This one is a little bit different. General thought process watching the first half of this movie goes:

  • Anna Kendrick is acting like a psycho again, got it.
  • I love Sam Rockwell.
  • Why is Anna now running off with this total stranger (Rockwell) who she doesn’t know is a trained assassin.
  • Still love Rockwell. In fact, really digging the two of them together.
  • Okay, this is just ridiculous, but I’ll keep watching!

Still a rom-com! Highly doubt you’ll predict what’s gonna happen in this one.

What If (Prime)

Lastly, let’s throw in something a little “indie-feeling” that includes Harry Potter as the star. The classic tale of a boy getting friend-zoned in the first ten minutes of the movie, agree to “just be friends,” only to really be crushing on the girl for the whole movie. Did I give the movie away? No. If it was in the trailer, it’s not a spoiler. Get over it, Marc.

ALSO: Adam Driver in a comedic supporting role is very entertaining. Another good reason to watch.
