Sean’s Rankings of Every TV Show from 2020
#22 – #13: We’re Getting into the Good Stuff
22.) Big Mouth – Season 4
More of the same from this wonderful, yet sometimes ultra cringeworthy cartoon about a bunch of teenagers growing up.
21.) Utopia – Season 1
A bucket of great characters combined with twists and turns leads to a solid outing from Amazon, even if sometimes Utopia feels like it hits a little close to home given the current pandemic.
20.) Defending Jacob
The mini-series revolving around trials made a comeback this year! Chris Evans is the man and I will never not laugh when he does his patented wall lean. He just loves doing it!
19.) The 100 – Season 7
The final season of one of my favorite shows ever aired this summer and it didn’t disappoint. Too many episodes held back this season from being better, but I get why they stretched it. The 100 needed to have exactly 100 episodes, right? I will miss this gang a whole lot and am very happy that the ending didn’t blow.
18.) Homeland – Season 8
Final seasons galore! This show has been up and down just about as much as Carrie Matheson herself. From the immaculate first season to the garbage in season 3, to the great season in Berlin… to the forgettable (and unforgettable) NYC season. Great final season with an ending that was as good as Showtime could have hoped for.
17.) Sex Education – Season 2
This was so long ago (January) that I almost forgot about it. While not as good as the first season, Asa Butterfield brought the heat again for a quality second season. Another personal favorite, definitely looking forward to Season 3 in 2021.
16.) Upload – Season 1
In one of the more unique concepts, Upload showed us what it would be like to essentially upload your consciousness to a computer program rather than take the chance and see what lies beyond when you die. I expected a lighthearted comedy, but was happily surprised with the deeper storyline.
15.) The Flight Attendant – Season 1
Kaley Cuoco is a psycho. That’s pretty much the show. Loved it.
14.) The Undoing
Another one I almost didn’t get around to watching. All around a great mini-series. Kidman and Grant were both great and the fact that there is a clear cut resolution bumped this up a few spots. I hate when these trials end with no obvious verdict.
13.) The Umbrella Academy – Season 2
I thought the first season of The Umbrellas Academy was good, despite feeling a little miserable at times, but then the second season came out. They completely flipped the script. Everything about Season 2 felt lighter and more upbeat than it’s predecessor. This season was so much fun and the setup for season 3 makes this “superhero” show a must watch on Netflix.
